Rates & Insurance
The Financial Side of Therapy
Finding a therapist who feels like a good fit matters. So does knowing whether working together is financially practical.
Here’s what you need to know about fees, insurance, and payment before beginning therapy.
Self-Pay Rates
I use a self-selected, tiered fee structure. The tiers reflect differences in access to financial, institutional, social, and cultural resources while helping me maintain a sustainable practice.
You choose the rate that best aligns with your circumstances and values.
Open Path Collective
$70/session
Suggested rate for Open Path Collective clients. You must have an active Open Path membership and provide your member number to use this rate.
Sustainable Support
$125/session
This rate covers basic therapy costs and supports the practice's sustainability.
Equitable Access
$90/session
Intended for those with the greatest need and limited access to institutional, social, and cultural resources.
Resource Redistribution
$150/session
This rate reflects the true cost of providing therapy services and helps make lower rates available to clients with less access to resources.
Using Insurance
I am an in-network provider with:
Aetna
Blue Cross/Blue Shield
Cigna
Florida Blue
Optum
UnitedHealthcare
Because insurance companies offer many different plans, being in-network doesn't necessarily mean your plan will cover services. I recommend checking your mental health benefits before beginning therapy. I will also verify your benefits before treatment begins.
If you plan to use insurance, there are a few things I want you to understand up front.
Using insurance for psychotherapy requires me to provide a mental-health diagnosis.
Your insurance plan may also have requirements that affect coverage.
Your insurance plan may request information related to your treatment when permitted.
Your insurance plan determines your deductible, copayment, coinsurance, and other out-of-pocket costs.
Paying for Sessions
You must keep a valid debit or credit card on file in my HIPAA-secure client portal.
I charge your card on the day of your session for any amount you're responsible for, including your self-pay session fee or applicable insurance cost-sharing.
Weekly Therapy
All new clients begin therapy with a weekly standing appointment.
A standing appointment means that the same day and time is reserved specifically for you every week. When considering the cost of therapy, I encourage you to plan for weekly sessions rather than occasional appointments.
You can learn more about appointment availability, practice hours, and attendance expectations on the Hours & Scheduling page.
